Ozark Centre Showcases Innovative New Design Concept
Site construction of the Ozark Centre began in April 2003. A Wal-Mart SuperCenter opened its doors for business on April 15, 2004 and includes features that add to the allure and prestige to the center.
“I’m really impressed,” said John Spells, an electrician who was checking out the town’s newest shops. “It’s warmer, roomier, and gone back to the way stores should look,” Spells said.
Other retailers include Lowes, Arby’s, Backyard Burger, Cato Corporation, Citizen’s National Bank, Crystal Nails, Dollar Tree, Great Clips, Hurricane Bay Car Wash, Mailbox It, Murphy Oil, Payless Shoes, Tel-A-Rent, Radio Shack, Subway, and Wendy’s.
The Ozark Centre adds convenience for Ozark residents in that they will not have to drive to nearby Springfield for shopping.
In order to facilitate the development of the site, many transportation improvements were necessary and funded by an additional 3/8 cent sales tax effective through the establishment of the Ozark Centre Transportation Development District (“TDD”).
The TDD assisted in the installation of traffic signals, roadways, and entrances that have energized the area for further development.
D2's Role:
Development Dynamics provided a preliminary TDD sales tax revenue analysis to help justify the ability of the TDD to repay the transportation project costs.
